The Karas Gallery was founded in 1995 by curator and gallery owner Eugene Karas. The collection of Karas Gallery consists of more than 500 works by more than 100 Ukrainian artists and appears to be one of the most systematic collections of Ukrainian art.
Over the years, the Karas Gallery carried out more than 300 exhibition projects and created one of the largest online resources about contemporary art ArtStorePro.com.
For Kyiv Art Week the gallery presents the project Rarities of the 90s — Not a Museum Collection. Art of the 90s is filled with the spirit of freedom, ease, playfulness and life affirming ideas. It is a time when political pressure on art suddenly disappeared and it exploded with thousands of different ideas and forms. Over the years the works of those times became a real rarity for fans and collectors of art, yet haven’t lost their lively life-giving force. Art of the 90s is the art of hectic life rather than of serene museum collections.
